Team Pack focuses on new solutions made of sustainable materials

"Consumer interest in paper shows steady growth"

Today's consumers are extremely sensitive to sustainable packaging and are increasingly no longer accepting plastic. As a result, manufacturers and suppliers in all sectors of the industry - whether in direct marketing, wholesale or retail - are inevitably on the lookout for sensible alternatives made from sustainable materials. Team Pack LLC made a clear decision in favour of paper and cardboard several years ago. And the success is there, as the great interest shown by the specialist audience at this year's ExpoSE in Karlsruhe highlighted.

For the Karlsruhe-based company, ExpoSE is a home game and it has been a fixed date in the trade fair calendar for many years. This year, the packaging sales company used the opportunity to present two new product lines to the international trade public. "Firstly, we have developed a biodegradable side gusset bag made of parchment paper: This solution has a width of 26 cm so that the asparagus can be placed crosswise," said Thomas Keßler, our contact at the trade fair stand.

About 80-85% paper and cardboard
In addition, the company presented a second solution for fresh products, the 2kg cardboard crate. "This solution is made of 100 percent cardboard and is available with or without a handle," explains Keßler. Team Pack recognised the current trend towards sustainable packaging alternatives at an early stage and over the years has increasingly specialised in the development and sale of innovative solutions made of paper and cardboard. "Today, the packaging we sell is made of paper or cardboard for up to 80-85 percent. And the response so far has been astonishing, in all areas of our customer base - whether it be at weekly market feeders, direct marketers or fresh wholesalers.

Although Team Pack has specialised in paper and cardboard packaging over the years, the company is also open to other sustainable alternatives. "Jute bags - coated with PE on the inside - are also becoming increasingly popular. Some of these can be used for years on end," says Keßler.

Landfrisch product line
The market is not only tending towards paper solutions for bags and wrapping paper, but also for trays - for soft fruit, for example - which are currently undergoing change. The trade is increasingly moving away from plastic trays, while (corrugated) cardboard and wood pulp alternatives are moving to the fore. Both sustainable solutions are marketed by Team Pack. In order to accentuate its corporate strategy and the promotion of cardboard packaging, the company launched the Landfrisch product line in 2015. Under this label, all carton packaging is marketed in the desired customer printing specifications. "We have been able to gradually expand this line and can currently supply approx. 10 different solutions made of sustainable cardboard. We are still noticing a growing interest in paper and cardboard," says Keßler.
