"Innovation goes hand in hand with taking care of our environment"

Durable, ecological polyester corner protectors

A year ago, sealandpack started investigating how to replace cardboard corner protectors, which had a short duration and couldn't be recycled, with recycled plastic PET (polyester) ones.

The company buys the plastic it uses to produce the corner protectors from Chilean bottle and plastic container collectors. The result obtained is a high strength product that is washable and can be recycled. Sealandpack has over 25 years of market experience and it is a pioneer in this technology in South America. The company currently produces 30 tons per month and has the capacity of increasing its production to up to 100 tons per month.

The packaging corner protectors are a basic necessity to protect the goods from getting damaged during transportation. This results in a lower (or no) loss due to product damage.

"Using corner protectors is highly recommended in the agricultural world given the fragility of most products. This product will better protect the merchandise so it can withstand the fluctuations to which it will be subjected during transport or handling," said Fernando Castillo, Sealandpack's commercial manager.

The polyester (PET) corner protectors have beneficial properties for the agricultural world because the material is reusable, washable, and can be stored for a long time without affecting product quality. Additionally, their price is very competitive when compared to the cardboard ones, which have a short life.

"One of our goals is to contribute to reduce plastic waste in the world by providing a quality solution to our customers and a sustainable approach to the environment," Castillo stressed. "Our first customers are very satisfied with the results they've had with our product. We believe this new product has potential worldwide," he added.

Thanks to its advantages, exporters, importers, producers, and other agricultural sectors, which are among the people most affected by climate change, are receiving this product with great enthusiasm.
