New Sorma Benelux (Freshpack) pear packaging

A new recyclable packaging for products in a tray with an innovative new handle. This is a short description of the new Ecopunnet packaging by the Sorma Group. Various pear packagers in the Benelux have started packaging Conference pears in the Ecopunnet packaging.

The base of this packaging is with the Sorma Group in Italy. A lot of stonefruit, kiwis and other fruit is packaged in a tray with a net in Italy. Traditionally, this net packaging is closed with a metal clip. Sorma developed these horizontal clip machines years ago, and now the net packaging for products in a punnet is a fixed sight in the various supermarkets.

The request to remove the metal clip from the packaging became heard more and more. This is why Sorma developed a machine to close the net packaging without a metal clip. By using a heat seal, the roll of net is closed around the tray and is foreseen by a pre-printed innovative handle. The day to day packaging information can be printed on a wide part of the packaging by the printer on the machine. The entire handle can be printed with a (customer) specified design. The Ecopunnet is made out of 100% (PP) mono material and so is fully recyclable.
