Ontario mushroom facility to close down

Highline Mushrooms will close down one of its mushroom farms in Ontario at the end of this year. The decision is driven by the age and state of the facility.

"We have made the difficult decision to close our facility in Wellington, Ontario as it not longer meets our long-term safety standards and evolving operational needs," says Jose Cambon, CEO of Highline Mushrooms. "We are actively working to minimize the impact on staff and remain fully committed to supporting all employees through this transition," he added.

The company's operations in Leamington and Kingsville are unaffected. Highline is currently building a Mushroom Farm of the Future in Leamington with innovations in packing technology and cold chain technology. The first product from the new farm is expected to be available before June 2026. "Looking ahead, we are optimistic about the opportunities our new facility in Leamington will bring for Highline Mushrooms and our team," Cambon said.
