As part of its global growth strategy, Planasa has announced the formation of a new Global Value Chain Department. The initiative aims to integrate and optimize various stages of the value chain for berries and other produce within the company's portfolio.
The department will be led by Hans Liekens, who will expand his responsibilities from Global Head of Innovation to Global Head of Innovation & Value Chain. Liekens brings over 30 years of experience in the FMCG and agriculture sectors, having held senior roles at companies such as Tropicana, Chiquita, Campina, Hessing, and Fall Creek. He has also been involved in the Sekoya blueberry development initiative.

According to Liekens, the new structure is intended to better align innovation with operations, ensuring that developments in breeding programs are effectively translated into products delivered to global markets.
As part of this organizational change, Paula Crespo has been appointed Value Chain Manager for the EMEA region. Crespo has been with Planasa for more than six years, working in marketing, communication, and retail coordination. In her new role, she will oversee relationships with key stakeholders across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to support alignment with the company's broader strategy.
Planasa states that the creation of the Global Value Chain Department is intended to improve coordination between research, production, and commercial teams, allowing for more effective responses to market requirements.
