Packinghouses and cooperatives worldwide are increasingly challenged to improve efficiency, enhance quality control, and streamline operations to manage diverse fruit varieties while meeting stringent retailer standards. Biometic is addressing these needs through AI-powered packinghouse solutions, drawing on experience in vision systems and high-speed scanning technologies. One of its key products, the Q Eye Stereo system, is designed to manage round-shaped fruits such as apples, among others.
Based in South Tyrol, Europe's largest apple-producing region, Biometic has developed the Q Eye Stereo system to meet the specific needs of cooperatives and packinghouses. Already operational in one of the region's fruit cooperatives, the system provides accurate diameter distribution data, optimizing storage and distribution processes.
The Q Eye Stereo system integrates stereoscopic vision with artificial intelligence to measure fruit diameter in the top layer of crates as they pause briefly at the weighing station. This approach offers a precise estimation of fruit size distribution, aiding cooperatives in storage and distribution, while ensuring they meet retail demands efficiently. The system is versatile, performing consistently across regions, whether for apples in Germany, citrus in California, or onions in the Netherlands. It supports better quality control through advanced tracking based on size, leading to improved transparency and customer trust. Additionally, streamlined processes facilitated by the system enable quicker and more accurate order fulfillment, helping packinghouses meet the demands of retailers more effectively.
Biometic will present its AI-driven packinghouse solutions, including the Q Eye Stereo, Q Eye Smart, and Q Eye Spectro systems, at Fruit Logistica in Hall 4-1, Stand A-30.
