France: La Poste accelerates e-commerce by acquiring Pourdebon.com

Geopost/DPDgroup, a branch of French postal service La Poste, has announced the acquisition of the grocery delivery platform Pourdebon.com.

Pourdebon.com is a marketplace where consumers can order fresh products, “just like on the market”, from French producers and artisans directly.

After accompanying the launch of the company in 2016 with a minority stake in the company through Chronopost, GeoPost/DPDgroup is now taking over Pourdebon.com and continues its development in the food sector.

“The acquisition of Pourdebon.com by GeoPost/DPDgroup is a new step in our development strategy on the market of food e-commerce. One year after the acquisition of epicery.com, we continue our development in this fast-growing segment with great potential. Pourdebon.com puts consumers in direct contact with French producers and artisans, and it will strengthen the synergies with our Chronofresh branch. This way, the two companies will continue their fruitful collaboration,” explains Yves Delmas, CEO of GeoPost/DPDgroup.

Pourdebon.com, a startup serving producers and consumers
Pourdebon.com connects French artisans and producers with consumers who are in search of the best fresh and local products. Today, the platform offers 17,000 fresh products from over 550 French producers and artisans. Since its creation, the company has experienced a significant growth, even more marked during the pandemic.

Pourdebon.com has developed a unique sourcing expertise to select passionate producers and artisans anywhere in France. Their promotion on this platform allows consumers to access a varied offer of unique regional products. The platform eliminates any intermediary, therefore recreating a direct connection between producer and consumer. Pourdebon.com manages the order from start to finish and offers express fresh and home delivery.
