Mexico's avocado seeks its way to Qatar

Victor Villalobos, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), stated that they were currently working with the Government of Qatar on the protocol to export avocados to that destination. The goal of the Mexican Government is to ensure that the avocado is present at the world's biggest football event: the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Villalobos also said that the agricultural business sector expected to continue growing and that they hope to maintain the 5.4% rate of expansion it is experiencing this year.

The programs applied by the Sader, related to guarantee prices or fertilizers, are aimed at helping the sector's continued growth. According to Villalobos, the farmers that had participated in the fertilizer program carried out in the state of Guerrero this year would double their harvest yield next year.
