BILLA Online Shop: over 50% of the online shopping baskets contain fresh products

BILLA continues to expand its leading role in Austria. “The success of the BILLA Online Shop is especially visible in the increase in online purchases of fresh produce – fruit, vegetables and other basics – to over 50%,” states a happy Robert Nagele, member of the BILLA management team. Every second shopping basket contains fruit or vegetables and 85% of the shopping contain at least one meat or sausage product.

“The fact that consumers not only buy bulky products or cupboard essentials online shows that consumers acknowledge the BILLA Online Shop as a normal store with a complete range,” states Josef Siess, Manager Purchasing & Marketing of BILLA. The customers’ acknowledgement is furthermore shown by the increasing sales figures of the BILLA Online Shop, with a 160% increase from 2015 to 2016.

BILLA Online Shop delivers everywhere
BILLA is the only online supermarket with a complete range, over 8,000 products, and delivers to all Austrian households. The average value of the online shopping basket is around 80 Euros, which is higher than in the stores. The online products are especially attractive as they are sold at the same price as in the stores. “And with the integration of the BILLA loyalty card program it is possible to redeem discounts and promotions online,” continues Robert Nagele. The BILLA Online Shop waives the delivery fee until 19 November. 

BILLA Omnichannel simplifies shopping
“For us the online and the real store are only possible together. Our Omnichannel concept is a point of contact for all shopping, online as well as in the store. With the BILLA Online Shop App customers have access to useful tools that make shopping easier, online and in the stores, which simplifies their everyday life,” explains Josef Siess. Users of the app can link their loyalty card and get discounts and coupons for quick and easy use online or show the app at the register in the store. Another practical feature in the app is the personal shopping list. You can see everything you need orderly arranged and you can also save your own favorite products in the app.

BILLA continues to pioneer new features 
BILLA took its first steps towards delivering groceries as early as 1999. In 2015, BILLA started a comprehensive re-launch of the online shop and successfully rolled out the new concept in all Austrian states. “In 2017, we opened Austria's first Food Fulfillment Center, which delivers in the Vienna metropolitan area. Currently, we are working on the development of new online business models,” explains Robert Nagele. BILLA Online Shop continues to offer its customers new features and develop the online grocery delivery in Austria in an innovative and customer-oriented way.
