Spain: Valencian company to manage protected plant varieties worldwide

Genesis Innovation Group (GIG) is a new Valencian company that brings together a group of firms specialised in the development and integrated management of protected plant varieties worldwide.

According to a statement from the new company, the start of its activity arises in parallel to the success of the business model that Citrus Genesis has been applying in the development and management of new and protected citrus varieties.

Thus, GIG will allow for the development and management of new varieties of pomegranates, table grapes, kakis and other exotic fruits. Each will be done independently, but within the same business group.

The entity is structured in five independent areas and has extensive experience in the development and management of protected plant varieties.

Citrus Genesis will focus, as it has been doing so far, on the development and management of citrus varieties to further expand this area of business; meanwhile, Pom Genesis will be devoted to the global development of new varieties of pomegranate for fresh consumption, juice production and processing.

Also, Grape Genesis has been created to revolutionise the varietal landscape of seedless table grapes, and Genesis Exotics will be responsible for the management of new exotic and tropical fruit varieties, such as kakis and mangoes, among other products.

The new structure will revolve around a last fundamental division: Genesis Farming, with the objective of developing, multiplying, evaluating and producing new varieties that exceed the expectations of the final consumer and encourage consumption.

This new division will be responsible for the varietal improvement programs, as well as of the nurseries producing certified plant material or the experimental farms responsible for the evaluations of each variety and the production of new crops.
