Foodcareplus is active in various places all over the globe. "We intentionally choose to specialize in a number of commodities" Steve Alaerts, Sales Director of Foodcareplus, says.
The activities of Foodcareplus are divided into four parts: Supply Chain Management Services, Procurement & Freight Administration, Execution (Freight Forwarding) and Reporting & e-Business Solutions.
The activities of Foodcareplus are divided into four parts: Supply Chain Management Services, Procurement & Freight Administration, Execution (Freight Forwarding) and Reporting & e-Business Solutions.
"Our activities are very different and at the same time tied to each other. We look (on behalf of our clients) for the best transporters over land, by sea or by air," Steve mentions.
"In addition we have our own software company with a site where people can log into and look for information. We can take over all activities in the transport area from our clients. By means of e-business we take care of reporting to our clients. The product portfolio is also being looked at separately per commodity. We start at the commodity and not at the logistics. This is a big investment, but the returns are great."
Stability, Reliability and Price
"Foodcareplus works with an efficient model of costs. By means of internal cost control and measuring of the productivity we make sure to remain competitive. We can guarantee stability to our clients. This is our first important pillar. We can guarantee stability because of our 'measuring-knowing system'. All activities in the company are being measured and in this way the possibility of mistakes and therefore of claims is minimal."
"In addition we offer a shipping guarantee; this means that we promise a guaranteed shipment. The risks and the responsibility are ours as a company and we keep our promises. Despite the slump in the reefer sector, Foodcareplus experiences an enormous growth as a result. We also expect traffic to increase to 125 million tons in 2016."
The Netherlands
He tells that they are already working in various parts of the world, but that from this year they also focus on the Netherlands. "The potato and onion sector in the Netherlands is enormous and they are also looking for attractive logistic solutions. The Netherlands are the largest exporter in Europe and for us it is therefore a logical step to open up this market. At the moment we are getting ready in our neighbouring country and we are busy opening an office in Amsterdam. We make sure we are present at various events in this branch and hope to meet our new target group in this way."
Mongolia
"Another new product is transport to Mongolia. The first two containers were shipped from America to Zamyn-Üüd during the middle of May and further by motor vehicle to the final destination Ulaanbaatar. We are able - from anywhere in the world - to transport products to North China. Transport to China started some years ago, because there was demand from the sector to transport apples and pears to this country. From China to Mongolia is only a small step, but with interesting results. Our office in China supplied first class work with regard to support and follow-up of the shipment to Mongolia."
New service: Import department
From 1 June, Foodcareplus has extended its import services: veterinary controls and necessary custom documentation for reefers arriving in Antwerp.

With this new service we also use the services of the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food chain (FAVV) and the Border Inspection Office (GIP). Veterinary controls are compulsory for all imported cargo (of animal origin) destined for human consumption.
In addition to veterinary controls clients have a number of options regarding the processing of their cargo, such as storage in a certified cooling container followed by delivered by lorry to the final destination. This transport and also transport to a final destination (either in Europe or elsewhere) can be offered through one of the door-to-door services of Foodcareplus. Also for Dutch importers it will be of interest to have their product enter via Antwerp harbour. Via Rotterdam VAT has to be pre financed, which is not required in Antwerp. The clearing is then done by moving the VAT.
plus|3 program
Foodcareplus want to make it standard that transport and client have a good relationship together and are closer together. For this Foodcareplus has devised the plus|3 program and wants to cooperate with other shipping companies. "We are of the opinion that our industry must change and no longer believe in 'cold' shipping offices. We must change into facility-offices and keep our clients satisfied."
