Burmese mangos on show in US

Myanmar will showcase its mangos at a fruit exhibition in the United States starting from July 13, according to Myanmar Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association.

During the three-day International Mangos Festival, Myanmar mangoes species like Sein Talone, Shwe Hinthar, Mya Kyauk, Padamya Nga Mauk and Yin Kwe will be displayed.

“We are going to bring five kinds of mangos there. We have planned to make presentation on some other mangos which have good prospects. From this exhibition, we have to expand the mangos export market. We have no experience in exporting mangos to America. In my opinion, there may be strict restrictions in American market. Those who want to export mangos must discuss with the potential buyers, I think. Mangos from other countries are also in the exhibition. From Myanmar, five members are to attend the exhibition,” Soe than Min Din, Chairman of Myanmar Fruit and Vegetable Producers and Exporters Association, said.

Mangos produced from Shan State are to be displayed and about 300 mangos or half a ton of mangos sample will be shipped to the event, he added.
