Lisam to distribute the innovative Saflowers® thinner in Italy

The growing interest in the new generation of SAFLOWERS® thinners, which can save up to 35% of the cost of fruit tree thinning, has led the Spanish firm Saflowers&Sadol, S.L., creator of this pioneering technology, to reach a commercial agreement with the Italian firm Lisam s.r.l. for the distribution of SAFLOWERS® in Italy.

Lisam is one of the most important companies in the production and sale of electric and pneumatic systems, especially known for its pneumatic scissors used for pruning.

In recent years, the production of stone fruits, like flat peaches and nectarines, has increased; varieties which require intense thinning due to the great amount of flowers they generate, so more and more producers are thinning out the trees during the flowering stage to reduce costs. The cutting edge mechanical thinner SAFLOWERS® Electric consists of a rotary axis equipped with small strings that hit the blossom, causing them to fall.

Several tests and studies conducted by institutions such as Lleida's Agri-food Research Institute, IRTA, or Rosario's Evaluation Centre, in Chile, determined that using the SAFLOWERS® thinner could save up to 35% of the cost of thinning, as well as significantly increase fruit calibres.

SAFLOWERS® Electric has a 9 hour battery life, weights 450 grams and is just 37 cm long, making it very easy to handle.
