"Hamid Haddouch, Tizjara: "In the future own cultivation year round"

"EU: "End of season habanero chilli approaching with a peak"

Grower and exporter Tizjara have a varied assortment of exotic vegetables. "The production of our own cultivation runs till the end of January in Morocco," Hamid Haddouch tells. "At the moment there is an enormous demand for habanero chilli and the supply on the market is less. The Dutch cultivation is no longer on the market and from the Dominican Republic not much is arriving. It appears that from there more is going to America as well. We have with our own cultivation a unique position at the moment. Demand is high now, but we can stay ahead of this. Due to the increasing demand prices are increasing. We supply various European countries from the Netherlands," explained Hamid Haddouch of Tizjara.

Mixed assortment exotic vegetables
"This year we obtained our GlobalGAP-certification. In time we plan to realise supply of our own products all year round. We will start a cultivation area in the far south of Morocco. Then we will be able to supply chilli all year round. The assortment of Tizjara includes in addition to the main product habanero chilli various kinds of exotic vegetables. Together with their own production Tizjara also offer the possibility of growing specific products, when requested.

"Products we offer quite a lot are Rawit and Okra" Said Bachaou tells. Rawit is a small thin chilli. Rawits are many times hotter than common Spanish chilli. At the moment these are imported from Kenya. We will shortly start our own cultivation from Kenya. Tizjara produce and supply under hallmark Magnifica. Special to this hallmark is the emphasis on taste. Also quality and freshness are central in this. The products with the hallmark Magnifica are carefully selected and packed directly, when taken off the field, in a cooled area assuring the client of fresh vitamin- rich vegetables.
