NZ: Turners & Growers pulls out kiwifruit vines near Kerikeri
Kerikeri is the 11th region to be infected since PSA was first discovered in New Zealand two years ago. Turners & Growers says the removal of the vines was being done under strict hygiene rules and continued testing is under way of surrounding vines.
The company manages a total of 130ha, comprising 20 orchards, in the Kerikeri area. As the male baker grafts had proven to be susceptible to PSA-V, all orchards in the Kerikeri region have decided to remove their vines and Turners & Growers will remove about 20ha of the male baker graft vines.
