US: Maxwell Chase Technologies launch new tomato slicer
The machine is easy to load and is fully integrated with a Pick & Place, which allows more than one operator to load increasing productivity. The MCT 50 removes and collects the unwanted end pieces while placing the premium tomato slices neatly in the tray in 3 rows. The Tomato Slicer has built in safety features such as a safety hood to protect the operator when the machine is in operation.
Some of the key advantages of the machine are the reduction in labor cost and increase in yield of the finished product to over 70%. "Ever since we introduced the single row MCT 25 slicer, our customers have asked for a 3 row model that will fill a ½ steam tray at the same speed and efficiency. The MCT 50 was developed in response to this market need" said Tom Gautreaux, National Sales Director, Maxwell Chase Technologies.
The MCT 50 Automated Slicer slices seven tomatoes per cycle, yielding six premium slices per tomato – or 42 slices per cycle, fitting 126 slices into a ½ steam tray. It can be operated at over 12 cycles per minute giving an average yield of over 1,300 lbs. per hour.
The MCT 50 Automated Slicer integrates with Maxwell Chase Technologies "Fresh-R-Pax" super absorbent trays, resulting in a dramatic improvement in shelf life of up to 14 days for sliced tomatoes.
