Special Fruit is taking the next step to a higher level. Today we are announcing the appointment of new CEO Bert Barmans, who is tasked with leading Special Fruit to a successful future.
Special Fruit is blowing out thirty candles this year. In that time
tremendous growth was realised in terms of staff, turnover and
profitability. Between 2014 and 2016 Special Fruit went through a
rough patch. That is why in 2017 Special Fruit opted for co-leadership with Tom van Herwaarden as CCO and Patrick Maes as COO, a move that bore fruit in the subsequent years.
Nevertheless, more than ever we must think ahead. Special Fruit
needs strong leadership to translate the shareholders’ vision of the
Maes family into concrete strategic plans.
Special Fruit is ready for that next step. We would like to
announce the appointment of Bert Barmans as CEO of Special Fruit.
With twenty years of experience at Zespri, nine of which as the head
of Zespri Europe, Bert is the right CEO to take Special Fruit to the next
level. Bert has international experience in the distribution, sales and
marketing of fruit. This is a crucial step in the evolution of Special Fruit
as a dynamic Belgian family business.
The Board of Directors has every confidence in the collaboration
between Bert, the Maes shareholders family and the experienced
Special Fruit team. Together they will continue to build a wonderful
future for Special Fruit.
