Uzbekistan grows and so do fresh produce companies

A lot of people attended the AgroTech fair in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, held between 12th and 14th June 2019. In addition to local businesses, exhibitors from Italy and Germany and many exporters from Korea and China also took part.

Futura from Cesena was the only European company with fresh produce sorting and packaging machines. Companies from the Netherlands mostly displayed technologies for protected crops.

"It was a positive fair with clients coming mainly from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Foreign companies were very well organized and even supported by public bodies. Us Italians always have to do things on our own or supported by a consortium," commented Futura manager Omar Papi.

Meetings at the Futura stand

Uzbekistan is growing a lot thanks to the many new shopping centers and retail chains. The per-capita income is also slowly increasing. "There are a few positive notes, as the average salary of people living in the capital have almost doubled over the last 4 years. Now we can say that the average salary of someone working in the capital hovers around €350."

The stand of Dutch companies

"When it comes to our sector, our potential clients have realized one thing, i.e. that if they want to supply retailers in a constant and uniform way, they can no longer process fruit by hand, but they need precise and efficient technologies."

The stand of German companies

"This is why our range of medium-small, inexpensive and easy-to-use solutions are gaining popularity around here."
