Business France assists 162 exhibitors at this year's Fruit Logistica

Sustainability and new concepts for future agriculture in the foreground

Business France assists 162 exhibitors at this year's Fruit Logistica. They will focus on sustainability and new concepts for the agriculture of the future.

Germany continues to be an important market for France: the export volume of fruit and vegetables totaled 326,000 tonnes in 2017. Fruits and vegetables accounted for 139,000 tonnes, of which 50% were apples and 20% were apricots. 187,000 tonnes -worth €235 million- was the share of vegetables in that same year. The main exports included lettuce, cauliflower, peas, shallots and onions, as well as tomatoes.

The industry has set itself ambitious goals: to increase the competitiveness of French products through investments in innovation, to harness the benefits of these products, creating healthy nutrition and to increase consumer orientation towards more health, well-being, naturalness and biodiversity. "Zero pesticide residue" is a trendy theme in France, for which there is - among others - the Nouveaux Champs initiative. Its current 46 members, many of whom are also exhibiting at the fair, are practising residue-free, environmentally friendly cultivation of fruit and vegetables as a concept for the efficient conventional agriculture of tomorrow.

Among the exhibitors will be Végépolys, a center of excellence that is works by the networking between all stakeholders, the creation of research partnerships and the establishment of new businesses. The firms are also accompanied by regional partners such as Région Hauts de France, Sud de France, Région Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur, Food Loire, Dev'up Center Val de Loire, Région Sud-Ouest and Région Rhône-Alpes. They will be the first point of contact for cross-product issues at the fair.

Halle 22, Stand C07: Business France
