Bonduelle sells Brazilian factory to Stella d’Oro

French vegetable processor Bonduelle has agreed to sell its factory in Brazil to local company Stella d'Oro Alimentos. The facility, located in Cristalina in the state of Goiás, is Bonduelle's only production site in the country. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Stella d'Oro Alimentos did not respond to requests for comment, and Bonduelle also declined to comment.

According to Bonduelle's annual report for the 2024–25 financial year, the company employs 201 staff in Brazil. Bonduelle first entered the Brazilian market in 1994 through a sales office. While the factory will be sold, sources indicate the group intends to maintain a commercial presence in the country. The deal remains subject to approval from Brazil's competition authorities.

Stella d'Oro Alimentos, based in Itápolis in eastern Brazil, produces a range of condiments and canned foods.

Bonduelle reports its sales in two regions: Europe and non-Europe. For the year ending in June, the company recorded global sales of €2.2 billion (US$2.55 billion), a decrease of 0.9 percent compared with the previous year. Non-European revenue grew 4.4 percent to €849.3 million, supported by performance in North America. Sales in Europe declined 3.9 percent to €1.35 billion.

The company has also continued to streamline its packaged salad operations. In July, it completed the sale of its French packaged-salad business to LSDH Group, following an agreement first announced in August of the previous year. Those assets generated about €80 million in annual sales. Earlier, in March, Bonduelle finalised the sale of its packaged salad division in Germany to US-based Taylor Farms.

Last week, Bonduelle reported first-quarter sales of €519.8 million, a decrease of 2.1 percent from the same period a year earlier.
