SunFed announces leadership transition

SunFed® announced that president and chief executive officer Craig Slate will retire in July 2026, concluding a nine-year tenure leading the company. To ensure a smooth transition, Matt Mandel, currently vice president of finance and legal, will assume the role of president and CEO on November 1, 2025. Slate will continue as co-CEO and advisor until his retirement date.

"This was a decision I made in July 2024, knowing that thoughtful succession planning would be key to the company's continued success," said Slate. "I will be turning 60 in February 2026, and reflecting on my years at SunFed, I believe it's the right moment for a change — both for me personally and for the company. Matt's energy, vision, and leadership style will be a catalyst for the company's next chapter, particularly as we continue to grow as part of the GrubMarket family."

Following retirement, Slate plans to pursue his passion for finance and investing by managing a personal fund, expanding real estate ventures, and remaining active in the produce industry through board service.

"SunFed has been an extraordinary company to lead, and I am grateful for the countless opportunities and partnerships I've experienced here," Slate added. "Working alongside Matt has been a highlight, and I am confident in his ability to guide the company into a strong and exciting future."

The transition reflects the company's commitment to thoughtful leadership succession and its focus on long-term growth and stability.
