Participants of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting are exploring collaboration opportunities with Shaanxi province in agriculture, leveraging technological advancements and logistics enhancements under the Belt and Road Initiative.
At the international kiwifruit park located in Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Industry Demonstration Zone, Shaanxi, advanced facilities include a pre-ripening storage system and a smart retractable canopy. These systems manage environmental factors to optimize the kiwifruit's quality and readiness, according to Gao Zhixiong, general manager of the park.
The park's technology includes a fully automatic sorting line capable of assessing sugar content and detecting defects, leading to a quality-based grading system. Gao stated, "In the past, fruits weren't properly graded — good and mediocre ones were sold at the same price. Now we grade by quality, and the best fruits sell for twice as much."
Essam Sharaf, former prime minister of Egypt, emphasized the park's temperature-control technology and smart agricultural machinery as systemic solutions for developing regions in Africa and the Arab world, focusing on food security and industrial enhancement. He noted the importance of smart agriculture in fostering Sino-Egyptian agricultural partnerships.
Paulo Pombolo from the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola highlighted Angola's potential to adopt similar industry technology, aligning local climate influences with consumer demands for kiwis. He remarked, "Given our climate, introducing this technology could boost local production and meet consumer needs."
During visits to Xi'an Aiju Grain and Oil Industrial Group, guests toured food processing facilities, gaining insights into operational processes. Ammar Al-Bayati of the Iraqi Communist Party highlighted the experience's value, acknowledging Iraq's need for enhanced food-processing capabilities to reduce its reliance on imports.
Mohammed Al-Mekhlafi from the Yemeni Socialist Party observed China's role in global economic interconnectivity through projects and collaborations. He emphasized Yemen's strategic location and expressed interest in strengthening ties with China through platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative.
