Enrique Colilles steps down as manager of Trops after 26 years, making way for Victor Luque.

"I feel that the time has come to close a successful cycle"

Enrique Colilles is stepping down as manager of Trops after 26 years, making way for Víctor Luque, who is becoming the general manager of the largest subtropical producer cooperative in Europe, with around 4,000 producer members and an annual turnover of nearly 200 million euros.

"I feel that the time has come to close a successful cycle at Trops, a cooperative that has positioned itself at the forefront in the production and marketing of avocados and mangoes," says Enrique Colilles.

"Members continue to join every year. It is doing exceptionally well in all areas and is garnering awards and recognition as a food company. It has a highly consolidated human team and strong foundations to face the challenges to come in the future," he says. "I am very satisfied with the work done by the entire team."

Colilles is now embarking on a new path in the production and industrial processing of almond and pistachio in Lisbon, Portugal. "It is a promising project with three shareholder partners with admirable experience. Together with my family, we are moving to Portugal for an exciting fresh start," says Enrique, who will continue to lead the newly constituted Interprofessional of Tropical Crops and will, therefore, remain linked to the subtropical sector.

The new general manager of Trops, Víctor Luque, who will take over from March 31, is originally from Montilla, in the Spanish province of Cordoba, although he has been based in Malaga for many years. He has a degree in Business Administration and Management from Loyola University of Andalusia, and holds an Executive MBA in Business Management from the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), as well as complementary training at the University of Amsterdam.

Víctor comes from the audit and consulting sector, specifically from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), having been responsible for the PwC office in Malaga, where he has spent 18 years in leadership positions and in various areas in places such as Malaga, Seville and Los Angeles, among others. He also has extensive experience and a career in the agro-food sector, in audits and in financial and sustainability (ESG) advice, as well as in risk management projects, internal control, review of procedures and systems and compliance.

"I'm taking on this challenge with great enthusiasm, aiming to continue to provide value and trust to our customers and partners and work in the same way as the cooperative has been doing in recent years. I have no doubt that everything will continue to work the same way, or even better,” says Víctor Luque.

For his part, Enrique Colilles says that "for me, it is lucky that someone with Víctor's profile has picked a cooperative over a multinational." Without a doubt, the new general manager of Trops "has the right judgment and experience to allow the cooperative to continue growing and developing."
