Doug Kling joins potato company Board

Black Gold Farms, and the Halverson family have announced the appointment of a member to its Board of Directors to fulfill a new slot designated to a non-family member.

Kling will be joining the Board, which is currently comprised of Eric Halverson, CEO of Black Gold Farms, John Halverson, COO of Black Gold Farms, Leah Halverson CEO of Ten Acre Marketing/Marketing Director of Black Gold Farms and Chairman of Board Gregg Halverson, along with Black Gold Farms’ CFO, Bob Hoffert.

Kling has a lifetime worth of experience, and is currently the President and CEO of Kling Strategic Partners LLC. His past work has included senior strategic leadership positions at Village Farms International, Cadbury Schweppes, Johanna Foods, Life Savers Inc. and other Fortune 500 consumer product companies.

Eric Halverson commented, “Working with Doug while serving on the United Fresh Board of Directors really showed me that Doug is not afraid to challenge the status quo or speak up. This is exactly what we need as a family organization. Someone to push us and help us make the difficult decisions.”

His primary responsibilities on the board will be to support the Black Gold Farms Board of Directors and affiliated companies by following the precepts of the Black Gold Farms Mission Statement and Vision with the ultimate goal of keeping healthy family relationships within the Halverson family stock ownership group.

“I’ve met Eric and Leah through different industry organizations, which has piqued my interest as to what they were doing – as a family and as a progressive potato production operation. I’ve been impressed with their commitment to growth, innovation, and their ability to keep family harmony. Having all of that is not easy and it takes work. I’m looking forward to digging deeper and helping them any way I can, as a company and as a family achieve their goals. And, knowing them, have some fun along the way,” Kling stated.
