Carrefour's first smart supermarket, Le Marche, opens in Shanghai

On May 20th, Carrefour opened a smart supermarket, Le Marche, in Shanghai's Tianshan Plaza in partnership with Tencent. This smart supermarket, also a world first for Carrefour, offers a wider range of products, catering, fresh food, imported goods and own brand products. It is also the first launch of a supermarket with self-payment through the Wechat app. With 4000 square meters, the Le Marche store is divided into two floors and has more than 25 thousand types of goods.

As the first smart store of its kind, this was also the first result of the cooperation since Tencent purchased an unspecified stake in Carrefour's China unit.
