Alibaba and Thai government sign durian contract worth 3 billion yuan

Alibaba and the government of Thailand recently signed a 3 billion yuan [475.5 million USD] contract for the delivery of durians, which will be sold through such retail channels as Tmall, Hema, and RT-Mart. As for distribution, Cai Niao Distribution will open a direct route between China and Thailand for delivery of fresh products. The journey of Mon Thong durians should take less than 120 hours, and the durian will be sold through warehouses in 19 Chinese cities. Chinese consumers can enjoy fresh durian delivery within two days of ordering.


Thai durian trade market

Most of China's durian import comes from Thailand, which is already the largest fruit importer for Tmall. Mon Thong accounts for 80% of the Sino-Thai durian trade. The Tmall top 5 most sold fruits includes durian, coconut, longan, passion fruit, and mangosteen.
