A shipment of refrigerated durian from Indonesia was recently refused entry at Haicang port in Xiamen because the proper permits for refrigerated fruit were not obtained. The shipment was therefore in violation of regulations regarding inspection and quarantine of plant material in China. The shipment of refrigerated durian, which weighed 7.84 tons with an estimated worth of 15,700 USD, was shipped back to its point of origin. It is reported that this is the first time in 2018 that Xiamen port implemented these measures for a shipment of refrigerated fruit.
