In October 2015, Azefresh was founded. The company exports fruit and vegetables mainly to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Russia from the building of B&L Fresh Logistics in Barendrecht, the Netherlands. Azefresh mainly supplies to wholesalers, who, in turn, supply local market traders and retailers. “In future we also want to start importing,” says Giorgi.
“We now mainly buy our products in the Netherlands and Belgium, supplemented with product from other European countries,” Giorgi says. “In the past, people in the countries we export to ate very traditionally, but the assortment has expanded significantly by now. For example, exotics such as miniature pineapples, avocados, soursop and rambutan are much in demand. Because transporting to these destinations takes about eight days, we also export products such as soft fruit and mangoes, which have a shorter shelf life when transported by air.”
“Our speciality is mixed loads. Furthermore, we inspect every box. Contrary to large companies that ship lorries laden with trade, we try to be distinctive in quality,” Giorgi explains. He is not dissatisfied with the first year-and-a-half. “In the beginning, you will always experience some start-up problems, but we are happy with how it is going, and are always striving to be better.”
