"You are number one in fruit and vegetables!” congratulated Markus Mosa, CEO of Edeka Hamburg this year's winners. “The quality and partnerships with local farmers makes your assortment so special.” Edeka purchasers develop their fruit and vegetable range continuously states Mosa. Seasonal products, grown in the region are especially popular and Edeka scores with its numerous regional suppliers.
For exotic and tropical fruit precise and well-planned logistics guarantee the consumers optimal enjoyment. For Edeka supermarkets fruit and vegetable departments are traditional key departments. As soon as you enter the supermarket you get a first impression of freshness and this shapes the expected shopping experience of the customers. “If you convince your customers here, it builds trust and a long-lasting bond with your supermarket,” states Markus Mosa.
Based on an extensive evaluation, combined with unannounced checks by the jury, the "German Fruit Prize" puts the winners in a special light. Coveted award with history
In 1996 two organizations, “FRUCHTHANDEL MAGAZIN” and the “RUNDSCHAU für den Lebensmittelhandel” (Observations for the food trade) started with Germany’s best fruit and vegetables departments of the year. On May 12 the "German Fruit Prize 2016" was awarded in Baden-Baden. In February 2016, the fruit and vegetable departments of Edeka had been recognized with the "Fruchthandel Magazine Retail Award" for the third consecutive year.
