The technology solutions firm Hispatec has reached an agreement with Reyes Gutiérrez, a specialist in subtropical crops, like avocados and mangoes, based in Velez-Malaga, which is one of the major traders in the area.
The Malaga-based company sells about 12 million kilos of fruits, avocados and mangoes per year and is active year-round. During the period when there is no production in its own farms, Reyes Gutiérrez imports from tropical countries and continues its marketing efforts. The re-exporting activities in this sector are already quite remarkable and contribute to nearly half of the turnover of "subtropical" companies in the province, which is estimated at 250 million Euro per year.
To keep up with the constant flow of work and information generated, Reyes Gutiérrez decided to improve its information systems. This is where a search started for ICT suppliers specialised in the food industry that ended with the agreement closed with Hispatec, which will become its technology partner.
The task in the coming months will be to implement various ERPagro modules, the leading solution from Hispatec for agro-food companies, and thus cover the areas of sales, purchasing, warehouse management, quality and, especially, controls from the farm.
The agreement reached with Reyes Gutiérrez is a milestone for both Hispatec, which will expand its presence in the subtropical sector, and for Reyes Gutiérrez, which has decided to implement technology that will help it further expand its capacity for growth.
