Lemons and grapefruits selling very well

Sales of South African citrus is good across the board. The price of oranges lies between 11 and 14 Euro, tangerines are between 14 and 18 Euro and limes are 7.50 Euro. Traders are calling grapefruit gold; the price for red grapefruit is 16.50 Euro and white is 13.50 to 14 Euro. The same is being said about lemons, with a stable price of around 30 Euro.

South Africa has been more selective when sending citrus - destinations like the Middle East, China and Malaysia do not check for Black Spot, but the low volumes coming from Uruguay and Argentina are also making it possible for South Africa to lead the supplies of oranges to the European market.

Apart from citrus, melon prices are low, and because the quality is also low, the imminent arrival of Brazilian melons is eagerly awaited. Avocado sales are doing well with market prices between 9 and 12 Euro, and mango's are also selling well. Romanian plums and apricots are selling well, going for 2.20 and 1 Euro per kilo respectively.
