The firm, which has developed its activities in partnership with Mercadona, owns four production plants in the towns of Ribarroja (Valencia), Antequera (Malaga), Aranda de Duero (Burgos) and Granadilla de Abona (Tenerife).
The latter sells its products under the brand "Mesturados Canarios" and just 50% of its shares belong to Verdifresh.
All in all, Verdifresh controls a production area of 25,000 m². The firm's innovations are always intended "to meet consumer needs and improve efficiency day by day," according to company sources.
In 2012, Verdifresh expanded its range and added four new products: Trio Leaf Lettuce, House Salad, Micro Broccoli and Sautéed Vegetables. At Christmas it launched a deluxe salad (Ensalada de Etiqueta) with special ingredients.
Verdifresh gives employment to around 500 people, 33 of which joined the company this year. More than 95% of the staff has a fixed-term contract. The firm promotes reconciliation policies and guarantees 100% of the salary during a maternity leave.
The firms Verdifresh, Mesturados Canarios and Alnut are all part of Grupo Alimentario Citrus (GAC), which develops and sells natural products elaborated from first quality ingredients.
Being Mercadona's provider allows access to a distribution chain with over 1,400 points of sale in Spain.
With over 10 years' experience in the food sector and close to 600 employees, GAC has reached a turnover of 105.1 million Euro in 2012 and expects to continue growing this year.
Alnut (Alimentación y Nutrición Familiar S.L.U.) started producing baby food in 2011 under the brand "Hacendado" and currently has 8 product references, of fruit, fruit with cereals, fruit with yoghourt and fruit with follow-on milk.
The firm, which reached a turnover of 11 million Euro in 2012, also sells Fruta de Bolsillo (Pocket Fruit); a product presented in a pouch containing a smooth, 100% natural fruit puree.
