Sonja Bremer of forwarding company Bofresh:

"Complete handling in the area of import/export and seafreight"

After years of experience in the transit department of J.van de Put Fresh Cargo Handling, Sonja Bremer started Bofresh in 2009. From its own offices on Schiphol the young company looks after the complete forwarding of flowers, herbs, vegetables and fish. "We assist clients with the complete handling in the area of import/export and seafreight."

In order to serve our clients even better, by a personal touch and extensive experience, I chose to continue as an independent and have not been sorry for one second," Sonja says. "I am proud of the growth realised annually and the reward arrived last year when we received the AEO-certificate. Then you can convince new
prospects that you are a reliable shipping agent."

"We take care of the complete custom technical handling, cold storage and distribution. In the Netherlands, transport is partly taken care of by ourselves with our own lorry, but also contracted out in groupage. Here we are in the first line in Schiphol and therefore our goods are quickly available to our clients. When asked, we organize the entire clearance and reporting of the goods at the KCB. During this process we control the progress and take care handling very quickly.

Important countries of origin of the products Bofresh deals in are Israel and Kenya. "For many clients we prepare the product for export to countries such as Germany, England and France. We sort the product, put on stickers and transport vouchers. Luckily there are plenty of clients. Nowadays, people are looking around for cheaper possibilities than those of their traditional exporters."

Containerisation is not dangerous, according to Sonja. "I cooperate with the companies in Rotterdam. My clients as well use containers more often, but they come to my shed because things like storage and inspection are a lot more expensive at the companies in Rotterdam." Sonja hopes to grow with Bofresh in a controlled manner during the coming years. We are looking for a second lorry and to increase the staff, but personal attention is the most important. Bofresh must be able to guarantee at all times a perfect handling of the goods for the client.
