Spain: Imminent buyout of Agrupalmería from CASI

The CASI cooperative is about to purchase Agrupalmería. Negotiations, which have been on-going for months, are about to close with an agreement that will help Europe's largest tomato cooperative grow even larger.

Agrupalmería's facilities, located in front of Almeria's airport.

In the plantations of Níjar and Alquián, the main areas of influence of both firms, growers speculate on the exact details of the agreement, which will probably be announced during CASI's next ordinary meeting to take place on Saturday 23 March. At that meeting, all members and partners of the firm will be informed on the reasons for this move.

If the buyout is finally carried out, as it seems it definitely will, Almeria's concentration of supply will be quite noteworthy, bringing in a turnover of over 300 million Euro that will turn CASI into Almeria's number one trader.
