Already with effect from week 6 Teboza supply asparagus from the heated glasshouses. The market conditions are, according to Will Teeuwen of Teboza, very good. "From last week the demand is in excess of the supply and I expect this to be the case till Easter! At the moment the price of Double-A asparagus is between 12 and 13,50 euro and I would be surprised if the price before Easter goes below 10 euro." 
The supply of Dutch asparagus increases at the moment. From next week the first asparagus of the heated open cultivation are expected. "Demand is earlier than last year and the eagerness in the market is also stronger than last year. Buyers, from retailers to hotels and restaurants, change earlier from Peruvian to Dutch asparagus and also from Germany I notice more demand than last year" Will says. "Competition from German asparagus is, according to the asparagus grower, not an issue. Till at least the end of April Germany will need all of its own asparagus to supply the German market."
Fortems
As there is room for early asparagus Teboza have chosen to open the asparagus season somewhat earlier than usual from this year. This occasion will take place at vegetable speciality shop Landwaart AGF in Maartensdijk on 29 March. Also with its own asparagus variety Teboza have important plans. "The idea is to have the variety as own hallmark on the shelves. With that Fortems will be the first club variety in the asparagus cultivation, which we will market as a concept" Will concludes.
