NZ: Turners and Growers welcomes Scales Corporation

New Zealand fruit producers and trader Scales want to buy 10.3% of Turner and Growers' shares to prevent a total buy-out of the company by German BayWa

Various news sources report that Scales supports the take-over by BayWa because it will strengthen the position of NZ fruit growers. Despite this Scales wants T&G to stay on the NZ stock exchange and keep strong minority shareholders.

Turners & Growers Chairman Rob Campbell today welcomed Scales Corporation to the company's share register. "We welcome the opportunity to work closely with growers at all levels and note in particular the strong role of Mr Apple in the industry".

From this aquisition BayWa get a strong position in the fruit sales in Europe, controlling the New Zealand import next to the outlet for German producers. BayWa also gain a strong position on the Asian market, possibly for European fruit with Turners & Growers.
