Southeast Asian imported fruit has reached peak season. The "king of tropical fruit" durian and mangosteen have matured. Durian varieties include Musang King, Mon Thong, and Kanyao. Mon Thong from the east of Thailand is the tastiest variety in May and June. The prices are as diverse as the product variety.
The price of durian was still high in early May, but began to drop in mid-May, and finished at 11 yuan [1.72 USD] per 0.5 kg at the end of May. That is a price decrease of 1% in comparison with the same period last year. The supply of mangosteen is limited because the weather in Thailand reduced mangosteen production by 55%. The price initially did not fall but increased until the supply volume increased in mid-May and the price dropped to around 10 yuan [1.56 USD] per 0.5 kg.
