Namibia and Orange River supply 40% of early Southern African grape exports

Growers in Namibia and along South Africa's Orange River are entering the final stages of preparation for the 2025/2026 table grape season, with consistent weather and balanced vineyard growth reported across both regions.

Namibia – Namibia Grape Company
In the Aussenkehr area, preparations are nearing completion as thinning and enlargement phases conclude. Favourable weather conditions have supported good bunch development and berry sizing. Colouring in early red seedless varieties is progressing, while the first white varieties are starting to show increases in Brix. The harvest is expected to begin in week 46.

Namibia Grape Company (NGC) recently achieved strong results in the Namibian Grape Growers Association (NGGA) Table Grape Block Competition. The company stated that these outcomes "reflect the team's commitment and consistent vineyard management."

Orange River – Capespan Farms
In the Orange River region, moderate to warm daytime temperatures and cooler nights have supported even berry set and shatter across Capespan Farms. A good crop with larger berry sizes is expected for the upcoming season, with harvesting anticipated to start in week 47.

Grape sizes appear uniform, and bunch formation has been consistent. Capespan's Operations team has completed Paltrack system training and planning sessions in the Northern Cape. "This ensures seamless readiness for the start of the new season," a company representative said.

Looking ahead
The Capespan Grape Technical team continues to conduct regular field visits and monitor vineyard conditions across production regions. "Early indicators point to another season of quality fruit, consistent growth, and strong collaboration across the supply chain," the company added.
