BioWorks enters European market with biopesticides and biostimulants

BioFirst Group has officially introduced BioWorks to the European market. As an independent division within the group—which also includes Biobest—BioWorks is dedicated to developing biopesticides and biostimulants. With these innovative and sustainable solutions, the company aims to support European growers in strengthening crops naturally and protecting them against pests and diseases, paving the way for the farming and horticulture of the future.

Anticipating a growing need
Across Europe, growers are increasingly in need of effective biological solutions. Many pests and diseases are becoming less sensitive to conventional crop protection products, while stricter legislation is reducing the availability of chemical tools. BioWorks responds to this challenge with a portfolio tailored to specialized crops such as vegetables, berries, ornamentals, and outdoor crops like pome and stone fruits, citrus, leek, and onion.

One of BioWorks' key strengths lies in its strategic collaboration with BIOTROP, a company acquired by BioFirst. BIOTROP brings strong R&D expertise, a pipeline full of biological innovations, and advanced fermentation technologies for both liquids and solid materials. Thanks to this partnership, BioWorks can introduce groundbreaking products faster, shorten innovation cycles, and expand its portfolio worldwide.

Collaboration with distributors enhances local expertise
In Europe, BioWorks operates through a complementary network of national distributors, regional dealers, and retail partners. BioWorks manages the brand and develops the portfolio, while trusted local partners—such as Biobest in certain countries—continue to advise growers directly. This combination of central innovation with on-the-ground expertise ensures maximum impact and practical guidance.

What does this mean concretely for growers and distributors?
For distributors, BioWorks will now be the direct contact for product purchases. For growers, very little changes in day-to-day interactions, except that the products will now carry the BioWorks brand. Behind the scenes, however, BioWorks brings a sharper focus on biological solutions, more innovation, and stronger links between product development and field-level advice.

"With BioWorks, we want to equip European growers with effective and sustainable solutions that truly meet today's agricultural and horticultural challenges," says Lara Ramaekers, Vice President of the BioWorks division. "Growers can continue working with their trusted Biobest advisors or other BioWorks distribution partners, but now they will benefit from even more expertise, a broader range of products, and innovative solutions to prepare their crops for the future."
