VentureFruit licenses Joy Wing Mau to plant 300 hectares of Tutti apples

VentureFruit has appointed Joy Wing Mau as its exclusive growing and sales partner for TUTTI™ apples in China. Under the agreement, Joy Wing Mau will plant 300 hectares of the variety, which was bred to perform in hot climates, and will distribute the fruit across the Chinese market.

Morgan Rogers, General Manager of VentureFruit, said the license marks progress towards the goal of expanding the Tutti apple programme to 1,200 hectares globally by 2030. "Joy Wing Mau's scale, expertise in growing, and market reach make them an ideal partner to introduce Tutti apples to China," Rogers said.

Since its commercial launch in February 2023, Tutti apples have expanded to over 900 hectares of licensed production across Spain, Latin America, China, and the United Kingdom.

Founded in 1998, Joy Wing Mau operates a supply chain that covers more than 300 cities in China, servicing wholesale markets, retail outlets, specialty stores, and e-commerce platforms. You Wenzhe, General Manager of Joy Wing Mau Fruit Technology Corporation, said the company is focusing on apple genetics suited to hot summers and changing production conditions. "Selecting apples that will perform well in an increasingly volatile climate is key for Joy Wing Mau," he said.

The appointment builds on an existing relationship, with Joy Wing Mau already serving as the licensed grower and marketer of T&G's Envy apples in China.

Rogers noted that climate-resilient apple and pear varieties from the Hot Climate Partnership, such as Tutti, are being developed to address the challenges posed by increasingly variable weather conditions. He added that consumer research and production trials had confirmed the variety's ability to produce fruit with reliable yields and preferred eating qualities in hot conditions.
