Market conditions for several fresh produce items are shifting due to seasonal transitions, supply variations, and weather effects. Below is a summary of current trends in movement, pricing, and trading activity across the United States and select import points.
Asparagus
Movement from Mexico through Arizona is stable, with slow trading and steady prices. Bunched large sells at $18.75–$20.75, and standard mostly $15.75–$16.75. Michigan's season is ending with too few supplies to establish a market. Peruvian imports through Southern California are decreasing, with prices slightly lower for large and standard sizes.
Avocado
Mexican imports through Texas are slightly down. Prices for smaller sizes (60s–84s) rose, while others declined. Conventional 32s–84s range from $25.25–$58.25, and organic 48s–70s from $42.25–$83.25. Peru's supply through East Coast ports is steady, with moderate trading and slightly higher prices. California's South District sees a slight decline in volume, with mixed price movements.
Blueberry
Harvest is ramping up in Oregon and Washington, where prices for 12 1-pint flats are $24.00–$26.00; organic at $29.00–$32.00. Mexico's shipments are dropping sharply, with light volumes expected through July 5. California's coastal regions also report low supplies. Imports from Peru are beginning, but volumes are still insufficient to establish prices.
Cucumber
Mexican imports through Texas and Otay Mesa are declining. Prices rose sharply with medium sizes at $18.00–$20.95 and lower prices for fair and ordinary quality. Quality remains variable. Georgia's season is winding down with an insufficient supply. Otay Mesa's medium cucumbers sell mostly at $18.00.
Bell pepper
Coachella Valley and South Georgia are both seeing seasonal declines. Supplies of green bell peppers are too limited to establish a market. Harvests in California's San Joaquin Valley are set to begin around June 29.
Tomato
Florida and South Carolina volumes are stable. Prices for 5x6 and 6x6 sizes are slightly higher, selling at $10.00–$11.35. Central California's volume is increasing, with 2-layer Vine Ripes 4x4–5x6 priced at $6.64–$9.95. Imports from Mexico through Texas and Otay Mesa are rising. Prices are generally higher, with 2-layer 4x4–4x5s mostly $10.00–$11.00. Arkansas and Eastern Tennessee-Virginia Shore are preparing for harvests, with the first FOB reports expected soon.
