The Dominican Republic has initiated its first export of domestically grown table grapes to the United States, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture. A total of 32 tons of seedless grapes, consisting of Allison and Timpson varieties, were transported via two trucks to Philadelphia, originating from Guayubín (Montecristi) and the southwest.
Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz traveled to the U.S. to receive this shipment. Cruz highlighted that President Luis Abinader's agricultural policies contributed to this milestone. "President Luis Abinader's efforts have paved the way for such developments," Cruz stated.
These grapes were cultivated with the assistance of local producers and the Bloom Fresh company. The company plans to increase exports to 15–20 containers, benefiting from the country's consistently growing conditions. Vice Minister Rafael Ortiz Quezada, local producer Arismendi Almonte's family, and company officials were present during the event.
