Tatayoyo nominated

"Our snack pepper delivers an evolution to the pepper category"

A tropical adventure with flavor, that's what the pepper brand Tatayoyo is all about. Rijk Zwaan is very proud that this snack pepper has been nominated for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2023. They asked their chain partners and colleagues: What makes Tatayoyo so unique? And how is this snack pepper moving businesses' freshly forward'?

"The volatiles make Tatayoyo enjoyable in a myriad of ways,"
Matt DeCeault, Produce Innovation Manager for the US at Sprouts Farmers Market, comments. "Tatayoyo has a unique flavor profile that delivers an evolution to the pepper category currently dominated by peppers that are all sugar, but not much else. This pepper is sweet and has the volatiles making it enjoyable to consumers in a myriad of ways. Besides the flavor with actual volatiles, Tatayoyo offers aroma – especially when cooking – as well as a crunchy texture and a long shelf life."

"As Sprouts Farmers Market, we are focused on delivering healthy, enjoyable eating experiences to our customers in the US. When the value proposition of a unique-tasting pepper such as Tatayoyo resonates with consumers, it fulfills our mission and keeps our customers coming back to our 386 stores in search of those experiences. We are looking forward to building a pipeline of high-quality, nutritious, and convenient vegetables that consumers desire to make Sprouts Farmers Market the premier retailer for fresh produce in all the markets we serve."

'Children just love the extremely tasteful Tatayoyo'
David Perie, Account Manager, Retail & Foodservice at Rijk Zwaan USA, says: "When my colleagues' kids come to our office, they run to me and ask, 'Do you have that orange pepper for me?' It's the ultimate goal in my work to make our future healthier, together with our partners. If Tatayoyo can stimulate that, it is our greatest reward. And those children are right: the explosion of aromas when you eat or cut Tatayoyo makes it the most exciting and wonderful pepper I have ever eaten."

"We are very pleased that Sprouts in the US were the first to embrace Tatayoyo. In January, Tatayoyo started hitting the shelves at the Sprouts Farmers Market. We will support their social media campaign with Sprouts' chefs, bloggers, and influencers and help to organize tastings and promotions in their shops. And that's just the beginning of how Tatayoyo can move businesses' freshly forward'," he states.
