Tesco's new range promotes new up and coming apple varieties

UK retailer Tesco launched a new range in the apple category this week. The idea is to highlight new varieties of apples which haven’t quite reached the volumes to have a long supply window. The will be part of the standard range.

The new range is supplied by Richard Hochfeld.

“There are a lot of new varieties coming on the market which have good volumes and great quality and taste at certain times in the year. It is all about selling apples at their best,” explains Martin O’Sullivan from Richard Hochfeld

“At the moment the packs have Empire apples from the US east coast, we will be moving on to Ariane apples from France and New Zealand also has some great new varieties which will be used in the packs as their season progresses.”

The country of origin and name of the variety will be printed on the pack so consumers can identify which variety they are eating.
