In the past, bombers and spy planes were rolling from the hangar at the former Woodford airport in Adlington, a place under the smoke of Manchester, England. Nowadays, one of the factory halls of the British Proseal is located in the former hangar, an expert in the construction of sealing machines for various types and sizes of trays.

Sismatec
Last week Sismatec, a distributor of Proseal in the Netherlands, traveled to the factory in England with a group of in total 18 customers and potential customers. It was a diverse group of packers in the fruit and vegetable, fish and meat industry, who came to take a look behind the scenes at the invitation of Gerard Buis, owner of Sismatec; Gerrit Tijhof, commercial director and Dianne Bouman, account manager at the company.

Masterclass seals
The group was the first to receive a masterclass in sealing from Luke Whittington on arrival. What is possible when it comes to size, foil and speed of the machine? What is the ideal temperature and the ideal time to seal a container and how important are the rubbers on the machine? Know-how can prevent unnecessary downtime. That is why more and more Proseal customers are training themselves and/ or their employees at Proseal or Sismatec .
The heart of the machine
Education
After lunch with Anthony Burgess, head of sales at Proseal, a tour of the factory followed. The ins and outs of the company were explained in two groups under the supervision of Luke and Andy Beeley. In addition, the Pro-Test was demonstrated. A machine that tests what the best seal is for the packaging and is pleasant to open for every consumer.
The trip ended with a visit to the Tesco and Marks & Spencer supermarkets in Handforth
Old Trafford
After the tour, guests were taken to the hotel where they had to get ready to watch the Manchester United - AZ football match. In the football temple of Old Trafford people watched AZ get beaten 4-0. After an evening of networking in an English pub, a visit to two supermarkets was planned for the following day to admire the end result of the sealing. It is known that the UK is a leader in the field of packaging. Yet most packers had a better eye for the display and the quality of the products in the containers they had their opinion about.
