US - Spartan Stores: Children get free fruit

Grocery shopping with a hungry child isn’t always the best part of your day.

SpartanNash, which operates several Family Fare stores in Mid-Michigan, is hoping to change that by offering free fruit for children to snack on in the store. The Free Fresh Fruit for Kids program offers bananas, apples and clementines in a special bin near the store entrance. Children are welcome to grab a piece of fruit as a snack in the store to stay occupied.

“We are proud to offer these fresh fruit options for kids and encourage healthier eating habits,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager of Corporate Retail, Ted Adornato. “Parents love the Free Fresh Fruit for Kids program, and it supports our health and wellness initiatives to inspire families to eat healthier in every aisle of our stores.”

According to abc12.com, the program is in place at all SpartanNash store locations whenever the stores are open.
