Saudi Arabia: Ban on Egyptian guava imports lifted

Last Tuesday, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) lifted the temporary ban on the import of frozen and processed guava imported from Egypt. In January the SFDA decided to temporarily ban imports of fresh, frozen and manufactured guava from Egypt due to pesticide residues being higher than the global standards limit.

Saudi authorities will still only accept imports from facilities accredited by the SFDA, reported the Saudi Press Agency. According to egyptindependent.com, the decision came upon a commitment of the Egyptian regulatory body to the conditions and requirements for the export of manufactured vegetables and fruits to Saudi Arabia, and after the SFDA accredited facilities of manufactured vegetables and fruit in Egypt.
