Uzbekistan: Farmers consider advanced approaches to sweet cherry production

The Central Asian country of Uzbekistan is one of 40 countries where sweet cherries are grown. This country is in the Top 10 of the world’s sweet cherry producers. Out of the 100,000 tons of cherries produced in Uzbekistan, some 30 percent are exported to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and other foreign countries.

According to azernews.az, practical seminars were given on advanced approaches for sweet cherry cultivation in the Namangan, Fergana and Andijan regions. These seminars aimed at improving the capacities of agricultural enterprises in sweet cherry cultivation, as well as applying best practices in managing cherry orchards and increasing the knowledge of foreign markets.
