AU: Victorian stone fruit growers at risk after humidity and rain

Rainfall and the accompanying high humidity during Friday and Saturday are putting Victiorian stone fruit growers at risk of a heavy outbreak of brown rot, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

A slow moving high pressure system is bringing a hot and humid airstream across Victoria and now the bureau forecasts heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, which could cause flash flooding. The heavy rains and thunderstorms, are expected to continue on Saturday.

Warnings have been issued for Mildura, Horsham, Warrnambool, Bendigo, Shepparton, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Traralgon and Bairnsdale.

Three day totals of around 60-120mm are expected south of the Divide and over the far northwest with totals of 100-200mm for remaining areas on and north of the Divide. However, totals over the northeast ranges may exceed 250mm.
