Metro Bulgaria to sell organic products in special sections

Metro Bulgaria has opened special sections for organic products in its 11 retail outlets in the country. With an area of 100-140 square metres within the store itself, they feature more than 1,500 food and non-food organic certified products. "Metro Bulgaria" is the first company in the METRO Group to differentiate its Bio assortment with a separate section, according to sources from the chain.

"So far, Metro Bulgaria has had an assortment of 400 organic products, but they were placed on the shelves of their relevant sections, alongside conventional products," stated Supply Director Diana Bonev in an interview published by Capital. She specified that the company's team has been working on the idea of a "bio-store within the store" since July this year. The preparations started with meetings with clients and the organization of focus groups to analyse the attitudes and demand for organic products, as well as the prospects for their supply, followed by research on markets and competition and the establishment of contact with direct suppliers. In mid-October, the organic sections have become a reality, and opening them leads to the appointment of 32 new employees in stores across the country," reported the chain.

The full range of certified organic products in Metro Bulgaria stores includes: fruits and vegetables, meat and meat products, fish, dairy products, desserts and chocolates, flour, oils, cereals, snacks and nuts, biscuits and bars, tea and coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine, cosmetics, child care, detergents, household goods and pet foods.
